Seattle Metro - TOD Station Area Plans

Crandall Arambula prepared 8 station area plans and 2 transit corridor studies along two of the Seattle region’s light rail corridors.

In addition to station area planning, Crandall Arambula also provided light rail trackway alignment studies for the City of Redmond, Sound Transit, King County, and the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT). In Tukwila, Crandall Arambula provided a separate station area plan for the Sounder commuter rail station. Station area plans were public agencies including the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC), the Cities of Tukwila, Bellevue, and Redmond. Sub-area plans were developed for stations that were along planned Sound Transit’s Link light rail corridors. The physical settings of the station areas varied widely from suburban commercial boulevards to industrial redevelopment areas to town center infill station areas. All plans were adopted and have resulted in a considerable amount of new transit-oriented development. Crandall Arambula:

  • Prepared all station area urban design, land use planning, and implementation services

  • Prepared all station area documents

  • Provided transit facility station alignment studies and recommendations for station facility design refinement in cooperation with Sound Transit and their transit engineering consultants

  • Prepared complete street design standards for the Redmond Overlake Village Station Area to ensure transit access to the station area was improved.
