Streetcar

Streetcars are a key component of a downtown economic development strategy.

Streetcars are best used as local circulators, connecting destinations within a downtown. These lower cost systems, which can be
integrated into an existing roadway, are perceived as a premium-level transit mode. Streetcar stations can be the center of transit-oriented development. While streetcars are relatively slow, their strength lies in linking housing with employment and in stimulating development within districts.
